Decisive end to the season for Paris
Anything is still possible! With the playoffs fast approaching, let’s take stock of the situation and the stakes as Paris Basketball heads into the final stages of the regular season.
Thanks to that hard-fought victory over Cholet last Sunday (99-93), our Parisian side have officially secured their place in the play-offs. From now on, Paris will have home advantage for its final three fixtures. This would allow us to play more home games, as the team highest in the table automatically hosts the opposition in the first leg and in the play-off quarter-finals, semi-finals and even finals.
This is a decisive period, which will conclude with a home game against ASVEL, with several possible scenarios :

Paris Basketball will finish top of the regular season and retain home advantage all the way to the Final if :
– We win one of our last three matches – namely the match against Monaco by a margin of at least five points – Monaco lose two further matches and Nanterre also lose twice.
– We win our last three matches and beat Monaco by at least a five-point margin.
– We win two of our last three matches – including the match against Monaco by a margin of at least five points – Monaco lose another match and Nanterre also lose once.
Paris Basketball will finish second in the regular season and retain home-court advantage through to the semi-finals* If :
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins a maximum of 3 of its remaining 4 matches – including a victory against Paris by a margin of less than 6 points – Bourg does not achieve a 4/4 record, and Nanterre wins none of its matches.
– We win two of our last three matches and, at the same time, Nanterre also suffer a defeat.
– We win one of our last three matches, ASVEL does not win any of its remaining four matches – or does not beat Paris by more than a five-point margin – and Nanterre wins no more than one match.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins a maximum of 3 of their remaining 4 matches – including a win against Bourg** and a win against Paris by a margin of less than 6 points – and Nanterre wins none of their matches.
Paris Basketball will finish third in the regular season and retain home-court advantage through to the quarter-finals* if :
– We win two of our last three matches and, at the same time, Nanterre wins all of its matches.
– We win one of our last three matches – including a win or a defeat by fewer than six points against ASVEL – and Nanterre wins at least two of its matches.
– We win 1 of our last 3 matches, ASVEL wins all 4 of its remaining matches – including a win in Paris by more than 5 points – and Nanterre does not win any of its matches.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL loses at least one of its four remaining matches – and fails to beat Paris by more than 5 points – Bourg fails to win any of its matches, and Nanterre wins one match.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins at least 3 of their remaining 4 matches – including a win against Bourg** and a win against Paris by more than 5 points – and Nanterre wins none of their matches.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins 3 of its 4 remaining matches – including a defeat against Bourg** and a victory against Paris by less than 6 points – Bourg wins all 4 of its matches, and Nanterre wins none of its matches.
Paris Basketball will finish 4th in the regular season and retain home-court advantage through to the Quarter-Finals* if:
– We win 1 of our last 3 matches, ASVEL wins all 4 of its remaining matches – including a victory in Paris by a margin of more than 5 points – and Nanterre wins at least 2 of its matches.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins at least 3 of its remaining 4 matches – including a victory against Bourg** and Paris by a margin of more than 5 points – and Nanterre wins at least one of its matches.
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins 3 of its remaining 4 matches – including a defeat against Bourg** and a victory against Paris by less than 6 points – Bourg wins all 4 of its matches, and Nanterre wins at least one of its matches.
Paris Basketball finishes 5th in the regular season and loses home advantage if:
– We lose all our matches, ASVEL wins at least 3 of its remaining 4 matches – including a defeat against Bourg** and a victory in Paris by more than 5 points – Bourg wins all 4 of its remaining matches, and Nanterre wins at least 1 match.

** Please note that ASVEL will host Bourg on 5 May in the postponed match for Matchday 21.
So – barring the very last variable – our Parisians would retain their home advantage and play Game 1 of the quarter-finals at the adidas Arena on Tuesday 26 May, as well as a potential Game 3 on Saturday 30 May. If they finish fifth, Paris would only host Game 2 of the quarter-finals on Thursday 28 May.

Whether it’s the home game against Chalon on Saturday 2 May or the clash against ASVEL on Saturday 16 May, Paris Basketball has a lot riding on these matches. So come and support us at the adidas arena by clicking on this link.
