Mo Diawara leaves Paris Basketball

Mohamed Diawara, who trained at the club and also played for Domrémy Basket 13, will leave Paris Basketball at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

After seeing his first minutes with the pro squad this season, Mohamed Diawara had expressed his desire to join Poitiers on loan in order to gain more playing time.

Now that the player from the 13th arrondissement has completed his PRO B season, “Mo” will not be returning to Paris during the summer break. However, the Club will continue to keep in touch with the player, following his progress towards his goal of pursuing a career in the NBA.

As part of the Parisian team, the 19-year-old former INSEP resident has made six EuroCup and six Betclic ELITE appearances in the 2023-2024 season.

The entire Club wishes ‘Mo’ every success in his professional and personal future.

Amara Sy, Sports Director of Paris Basketball:

“It’s a child of the Club who’s leaving us, because ‘Mo’ started very young with us at Domrémy Basket 13… But recently, we sat down around a table with Mohamed, his advisors and the sports staff. In the end, we all agreed that the best solution was to let him go. He’s a player who needs to play, but also needs to be given responsibility to show the full extent of his talent. We wish him all the best! Our hearts go out to him and, of course, we’ll be keeping a close eye on his performances.

Mathias Priez, Managing Director of Paris Basketball:

“A child of the 13th arrondissement, trained at Domrémy Basket 13, we were proud to welcome Mohamed Diawara to our training center and then to our professional team, and to allow him to train in his home town. Now that the time has come for Mohamed to find a new challenge, we’d like to thank him for his investment over the years and wish him all the best in the pursuit of his goals.

The next match in the series takes place this Thursday at 9:05pm.

Should they beat ASVEL in Lyon, Paris Basketball will play a game 5 at the adidas arena this Sunday.
