Hifi snuffed out Le Mans at the final buzzer
The Prince of Paris has struck ! With 33 points to his name, Nadir secured victory for Paris Basketball with a legendary buzzer-beater on Sunday evening against Le Mans on Matchday 2 of the Betclic ÉLITE (103–101).
Sheer talent: weaving through a forest of hands before finishing with a delicate lay-up. That is how the “Prince of Paris” sets the tone at the Antarès Arena. The contrast is striking, as moments later, former home-team favorite Terry Tarpey opts for a powerful drive to the basket! No matter the method, Paris Basketball is scoring in the paint! Le Mans is also finding the net, though mostly from long range. It takes a few possessions, however, before our three-point specialists – like Seba and Nadir – finally find their range. With their explosive styles, the teams deliver a performance that is as fast-paced as it is intense. There is running, physical play, and shooting – a showcase of up-tempo basketball that tilts in favor of the home team during the first quarter (17–21)! The 60-second break before the second quarter begins does nothing to slow the game’s frenetic momentum. When one side scores, the other immediately fires back. And so it goes! Our Parisians are hitting shots – particularly from the corner – while Alize maintains a constant presence under the rim. Le Mans can still rely on sharpshooters Moses Wood and Bastien Grasshoff. However, a Paris side that dominates the boards keeps up the pressure until it finally shows on the scoreboard. With five minutes left until halftime, our squad is calling the shots. The lead widens thanks to a sudden surge of brilliance from our players. Rattled, MSB racks up fouls and fruitless offensive possessions. Thanks to a strong reaction late in the half, the Sarthe club manages to limit the damage (46–41).

The halftime talk did the trick. Le Mans stormed back onto the court! Playing with much more bite, our opponents went on the attack, trying to rattle us. Paris Basketball countered this surge with bursts of speed – Nadir-style – along with a massive “and-one” play from Joël. Yet, these efforts weren’t enough to slow down the home team. Trailing by more than ten points, our Parisians relied on a hot streak from Tyson late in the third quarter to cut the deficit to a single possession (71-74). Our number 9 kept that momentum going as the decisive final stretch began. The comeback was sealed by a shot from near the logo courtesy of Nadir (77-76). From that moment on, things went wild! The court turned into a three-point shootout, with Tyson (again) and Captain Seba trading shots with a red-hot Melvin Ajinça. No respite, no breaks, no defensive stops! The intensity – present since tip-off – seemed to reach a fever pitch. With the ball in hand, both Le Mans and Paris charged headlong toward the opposing basket. Just when MSB looked poised to pull away, Tyson delivered an “and-one” from beyond the arc. Heading into the closing minutes, our squad was shooting over 70% from deep in the final quarter. Offense was clearly dominating defense! Guillaume Vizade’s men were barely missing, yet Paris hung tough—like a predator ready to pounce on its prey at the slightest misstep.
With 30 seconds to go, Nadir passes to Tyson… you know the rest: 100–99.
With 7 seconds to go, Lucas Dufeal sinks a lifesaving shot: 100–101.
Then, after beating Melvin Ajinça, the Prince of Paris sinks one of the greatest buzzer-beaters in the league’s recent history: 103–101 !
What a shot ! What a clutch moment! What a match! Having found themselves in serious trouble during the first half of the fourth quarter, Paris Basketball relied on their up-tempo style to beat Le Mans at their own game with a shot that came out of nowhere.
