Our women’s team are causing a sensation in Sceaux

The Paris Basketball women’s team pulled off a major upset on Saturday in Sceaux with this hard-fought victory over the promotion favourites on the fourth matchday of the league (72–68).

Our women’s team are off to a flying start! Just last week, Paloma’s teammates secured their first win of the season at the Halle Carpentier against Escaudain Porte du Hainaut. Whilst that was certainly a convincing performance, a very different challenge awaited them this weekend. Among the main contenders for top spot, Sceaux, boasting an unbeaten record, hosted Paris.

However, the momentum swung in Paris’s favour. Our ultra-aggressive defence stifled the best attack in NF1. As well as racking up defensive stops, our players were scoring from both close range and from distance. Hermine dominated the paint, Inès dished out a string of assists, whilst Aminata delighted with her long-range shooting.

The minutes ticked by and Paris remained firmly in the lead. As the fourth quarter began, our Parisian side held a comfortable lead. Sceaux refused to give up and began a comeback. They closed the gap but were unable to take the lead. Impeccable in the closing stages, our team ultimately secured a narrow victory and, in doing so, sent a strong message to the competition (72–68).

Now just one point off the podium, Paris Basketball will face Estaires this Saturday evening at 8.30 pm at the Halle Carpentier. It promises to be an electrifying clash, and you can attend completely free of charge.
