Our EuroLeague-bound Parisians engaged in their first real match-like confrontation on Tuesday, August 27th, at Halle Carpentier. The intensity and focus were high, with everyone giving 110% before heading to Estonia later this week for the first training camp.
While the friendly match against Évreux couldn’t take place, Tiago Splitter’s players faced off against each other to kick off the 2024-2025 preseason. Divided into two teams, the Parisian squad ran through their new systems under the guidance of their Brazilian coach, with three official referees overseeing the scrimmage. Although it was just a practice game, the intensity was palpable from warm-up to the final buzzer.
Sticking to their strategy of extremely fast transitions, whether off a rebound or after conceding a basket, our players gave their all on both ends of the court. In a shortened match format, the smiles of the first quarter quickly gave way to fouls preventing easy baskets.
Coach Tiago Splitter shared his thoughts on what he observed during the scrimmage:
“We played four 4-minute quarters, but with few substitutes, so we mainly tried to recreate that very high intensity of games. We put the players in situations with little time to play and few fouls to give, so it was interesting to see them in these conditions.”
“It also changes the atmosphere for us, and that’s a good thing. We were always at One Ball, and now we came to Carpentier with official referees, split the group into two teams… I was able to put two assistants with each team, so I could take a step back and observe the whole situation.”
