Invincible Paris
Paris Basketball emerge victorious from the Classico against Boulazac! Having trailed until the end of the third quarter on Sunday, the Parisians put in a clinical performance in the closing stages to remain unbeaten in France (90–75).
One – two – three. Seba is on fire! Paris has barely finished its first defensive stand when our captain launches a shot from the logo. This feeling-out process is clearly reflected in the box score. Although the capital side and Boulazac couldn’t be more different, they share one common philosophy: ultra-aggressive defense. With the pressure applied right from the start, ball-handlers have absolutely no room to breathe! At the other end, however, the two teams’ offensive systems contrast sharply. The visitors from Périgord carry that same intensity over to the offensive side, favoring play near the rim. While a few long-range attempts do find the bottom of the net, they are few and far between compared to our high volume of perimeter shots. Beyond Seba, Tyson also makes an impact from deep, while Jared and Daulton provide balance with powerful drives – often capped off by a thunderous dunk. Still, our shooting percentages – both from two-point and three-point range – work against us in the first quarter (18-24). The intensity of this “Classico” at the adidas Arena never lets up – especially when Joël ignites the crowd by hitting a massive, deep step-back jumper right in Obinna Anochili’s face. Add to that some nasty blocks by Allan and, of course, Daulton’s rim-rattling slams. The momentum shifts, and the scoreboard reflects it; a comeback is clearly underway. Trailing by just a single possession, Paris Basketball finds itself facing a defiant response from the visitors. To prevent the game from descending into the chaotic, fast-paced style our players love so much, BBD resorts to frequent fouling. It works for a while—but eventually, a caged lion is bound to break free. Whatever the way it happened! Following that SENSATIONAL dunk by Tyson in transition to close out the first half, our Parisian side heads off the court trailing Boulazac (41-44).

It just doesn’t stop ! Much like the opening of this “Classico,” the ten players on the court are locked in a fierce battle, with no let-up in sight. Boulazac takes the opening round, but Paris responds instantly in transition. In fact, Allan seems to have mistaken this Round 4 Betclic ÉLITE matchup for an All-Star Game, given the ever-increasing number of spectacular dunks. Staying on the fast break, Jared opts for an “and-one” play. With Paris, a three-pointer is never far away, and Joël proves it once again. Yet, that one crucial basket – the shot that would finally put us in the lead – remains elusive. With 40 seconds left in the third quarter, Momo ties the game in the paint; Myem Nwal misses her attempt under the rim, but then Tyson hits a vital three-pointer from the top of the key. Now it’s the visitors’ turn to chase the score (62-59)! This final stretch begins with intensity. Amidst the big men, “Captain’Seba” manages to carve a path to the rim. With heavy play in the post and fouls being drawn, it’s clear we’re in for a tight finish. Daulton provides some breathing room with a shot from beyond the arc, while Momo flexes her muscles in the paint – even coming up with a steal. Our Senegalese international is causing so much damage that Alexandre Ménard is forced to call a timeout. For the first time in the game, our team builds a comfortable cushion (76-65). Overwhelmed on the boards, the Périgueux side loses its aggressive edge, while the opposite happens for Paris Basketball. The gap has become too wide to close. In full control, our Parisians secure their fourth win in as many games on the domestic stage (90-75)!
It was only a matter of time! With Paris Basketball now in the driving seat, they left Boulazac with just a handful of scraps in a masterfully executed finish to the match.
