Joël Ayayi : “ We need to sort things out ”

In a neck-and-neck contest throughout Wednesday evening’s match against Bologna, Paris Basketball failed to capitalise on that final long-range attempt. A frustrating fifth round of the EuroLeague for Joël Ayayi.

Just one shot away from victory… In front of a packed crowd, our Parisian side gave the two-time European champions a real run for their money. So, naturally, this defeat in the closing stages has left our captain Joël feeling anything but indifferent : “ It’s tough because it’s the second EuroLeague home game we’ve let slip, in much the same way. We had the final shot and it didn’t go in. In the heat of the moment, it’s just hard to take. ”

Pushed to the very end, Virtus had to dig deep to snatch this victory. Our Parisian side caused the Italians significant problems. According to our point guard, there are lessons to be learnt : “ This is the EuroLeague. So you have to win the games. There are no medals for putting up a good fight. Sure, there were positives, but there were negatives too. I think we need to take stock and, of course, keep improving. ”

On the night, our Parisian players were able to rely on their supporters. This was a considerable advantage, as our French international points out : “ Keep supporting us. It gives us strength. The more of you there are, the stronger we’ll be to win this sort of match. ”

Paris Basketball are determined to secure a win at the adidas arena this Sunday in the Classico against Boulazac. It promises to be a thrilling match, which you can watch via this link.

Let’s all get behind Paris !
