Ayayi: “The hardest part is yet to come”
Having joined us this summer from JL, Joël Ayayi has spoken about his first season in the capital. The team atmosphere, his EuroLeague debut and settling into our style of play are all on the agenda!
Both in front of the cameras and on the court, our Parisian players seem to be really enjoying playing together. A feeling confirmed by our point guard: “It’s a group that gets on well. We’ve got a lot of great personalities, good lads. It’s actually quite a friendly atmosphere. For many of us, there was also the novelty of the EuroLeague. So we’re just happy to be here. ”
Joël touched on the higher level of competition that the EuroLeague represents: “The opposing teams are very well organised. They have experienced players, so they know all the little details that make the difference. And since for most of us this was our first year in this competition, we mainly tried to adapt. To try and bridge those 30 years of experience and cunning that separated us from the competition.”s qui nous séparaient de la concurrence. »
This season, our number 11 has also discovered a new style of play that he enjoys: “I feel good, it’s cool. It’s true that for a while we were a bit inconsistent, and I don’t think I’d quite settled in yet. But it’s a style of play that’s enjoyable, that’s cool to play. And running all over the place, wearing the opposition down with intensity – I find that’s a principle that suits my personality, my way of playing.”
With just a few weeks to go until the post-season, Joël also wanted to send you a message: “Keep cheering us on. The hardest part is yet to come with the French Championship play-offs. We’re trying to bring home a title this year and, for now, we’re on the right track with this second-place finish.”
