Two days after qualifying for the semi-finals, our players won Game 1 against ASVEL (94-81). A match for the boss.

There are games where it feels like the hoop is much bigger than usual. Where we’re so comfortable that we try everything and it fits. And sometimes that only lasts for a while. But that time gives you a comfortable cushion to be able to manage a game calmly. This first quarter was that moment. An almost perfect defense and an attack of the same level. The quintessence of Tuomas Iisalo’s group was expressed in those first 10 minutes. Successfully beating ASVEL, a Euroleague-level team, 33-11 is quite something!

But sometimes, being too comfortable in a playoff-stamped game can give you a little too much confidence, and then you have a moment of slackness. In the second quarter, ASVEL clawed back some of their deficit, even getting back to -6 in the third.

But Paris remains Paris, and there’s often a moment of madness! As the game wore on, the team-mates of Collin Malcolm, MVP of the game with 18 points on 3/5 3-pointers, got back into the game and regained a 20-point lead. The end of the game was anecdotal, as Paris was 100% in control.
