Rimbaud Cloppet: “Women’s basketball is evolving”.

Ahead of her very first game with the new Paris Basketball women’s team this Sunday (11.15am), Clara Rimbaud Cloppet talks about her motivations as captain. For our player, this match is above all a fantastic opportunity to get the word out about women’s basketball in Paris.

“Our project takes on a new dimension”

Clara, what does this new adventure symbolize for the whole team?

“We’re fully behind the project to set up a high-level training center in Paris. It’s a huge project and we’re all very proud of it. The project is concrete, since we already have this match on Sunday at the Halle Carpentier (Saint-Amand). It’s a fact, our project will now take on a new dimension by integrating Paris Basketball”.

Do you feel a particular enthusiasm around women’s basketball in Paris?

“Generally speaking, it’s one of the sports that’s most heavily represented at men’s level, but today we realize that things are changing. Women’s basketball is evolving! We can see that women’s basketball has a growing following. For the development of our discipline, it’s obviously positive to have a Parisian club. Especially as there’s a huge pool of players here”.

What does this curtain-raiser mean to you? Are you looking forward to taking to the floor at Carpentier?

“Above all, it’s a great opportunity for all the girls who make up the team. This gym is obviously different, it’s another dimension compared to what we’re used to. Our performance? We’ve been a close-knit team since the start of the year, and we can’t wait to play. So there’s no stress” (smiles)….
