Hero of the Game : Committed to women’s health

Hero of the Game takes on a pink hue in mid-October to mark the visit of Agir pour la Santé des Femmes (ADSF) to our court.

Access to prevention and healthcare remains particularly difficult for women living in extremely precarious circumstances. This is an issue that is still all too often overlooked, and one that the Paris Basketball Foundation has sought to highlight during Pink October.

Since 2001, the ADSF has been working with women who are homeless, isolated, victims of violence or disconnected from the healthcare system. Its approach is based, in particular, on the principle of ‘reaching out’. Teams therefore go directly to meet women during outreach patrols, as well as at shelters. Once they have established contact, the organisation provides them with information, identifies their needs and gradually supports them towards appropriate care.

This approach is particularly relevant when it comes to cancers affecting women. The ADSF carries out prevention, awareness-raising and screening initiatives. These initiatives are partly aimed at people who are disconnected from the healthcare system. During its half-time address, the association highlighted, in particular, the specific difficulties faced by women in precarious circumstances when dealing with breast cancer. It also emphasised the importance of providing them with information and support.

Pink October is not just about raising awareness. It is also the perfect time to discuss access to healthcare, health inequalities and the fight against information exclusion. These are important issues highlighted by this Hero of the Game.

Come to the next meeting and support us!
