Biography of Terry Tarpey
Basketball is in our number 3’s blood ! Born on 2 March 1994 in Poissy (Île-de-France), Terence ‘Terry’ Tarpey III spent the early years of his life in Le Mans. But when his father left MSB, the whole family moved to the United States, where he spent his entire childhood. It was there that he also made his debut in the world of basketball, joining the William & Mary Tribe straight after leaving secondary school. In the NCAA, the small forward made a name for himself thanks to his outstanding defensive skills, which earned him two consecutive DPOY titles in his conference.
After four years in Virginia, Terry returned to France to sign his first professional contract with Denain in 2016. Quickly outgrowing the French second division, the forward joined Le Mans – 23 years after his father. From his very first season in Sarthe, he clinched the holy grail of French top-flight basketball and, over time, became a key figure at the club.
His consistent form in the league earned him a place in the French national team. A surprise inclusion in Vincent Collet’s squad for Euro 2022, Terry Tarpey was in a class of his own for just under a month. Playing a supporting role, he provided a decisive burst of energy in the knockout stages against Turkey and Italy.
A key figure in this journey, Terry caught the eye of the Roca Team, who signed him in the summer of 2024. On the Rock, he reached the 2025 EuroLeague final whilst adding two further Betclic ÉLITE titles, one French Cup, one Leaders Cup and the first-ever LNB Super Cup to his tally.
With 34 caps for the French national team to his name, Terry – a familiar face in the Betclic ÉLITE – now joins the ranks of Paris Basketball.

Terry is the ultimate all-rounder! Always ready to win, the small forward’s presence on the court provides a natural link between the perimeter and the paint. In addition to his rebounding ability, his capacity to perform without needing to monopolise the ball is a considerable asset to the team.
His greatest strength, however, lies in defence. This combination of physicality, intensity and stamina allows him to defend very tightly on his man whilst constantly cutting off passing lanes.
