Biography of T.J. Warren

Born on 5 September 1993 in Durham, North Carolina, Anthony ‘T.J.’ Warren Jr. quickly caught the eye of NBA general managers. Even whilst still at secondary school, he was ranked amongst the top 40 most promising prospects in the United States. This status was confirmed in the NCAA! Playing for the NC State Wolfpack, the forward featured in the top 30 of mock drafts as early as his freshman year. However, he went on to average over 26 points per game in his sophomore season, earning him the title of conference MVP. Next stop: the NBA!

Selected 14th overall in the 2014 Draft, the North Carolina native played for the Phoenix Suns for nearly five years. Despite a slow start hampered by a few niggles, T.J. progressed to secure a place in the starting five. Beyond scoring in droves, the forward impressed with his efficiency in attack. In his final season in Arizona, he notably recorded five consecutive games with over 20 points.

The forward has continued this outstanding form with the Pacers. As well as making his play-off debut, he caused a sensation on 2 August 2020 by scoring 53 points against the Philadelphia 76ers. This was a feat not seen in Indiana since 1992, when a certain Reggie Miller achieved it! This spectacular performance, alongside other outstanding displays, even earned him a place in the All-Bubble First Team alongside James Harden, Luka Doncic and Damian Lillard.

These sensational performances in the Orlando bubble were, however, brought to an abrupt halt by a foot injury in December 2020. This was followed by spells with the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Then, in October 2024, T.J. Warren decided to sign for the Westchester Knicks, where he enjoyed two absolutely incredible seasons. Having emerged as his team’s leader, the forward racked up numerous games in which he scored over 20 points. These performances earned him a place in the 2025 All-NBA G League Third Team.

Having demonstrated his full potential in North America, the man with 5,513 points in the top flight is ready to set the scoring records alight on the Old Continent.

What role will T.J. Warren play for Paris Basketball in the 2026-2027 season

T.J. Warren has scoring in his blood! Whether in set plays or on the break, the forward can score from anywhere and in any style. Whilst his old-school mid-range shot remains his sharpest weapon, his formidable touch allows him to finish with ease near the basket. All the more so because his unconventional way of absorbing contact with defenders gives him a natural ease in the paint. Shooting from the ‘parking lot’ in catch-and-shoot situations is also a particularly interesting option for him.
