Paris suffer defeat in Roanne
No third consecutive win for Paris Basketball’s Espoirs, who were defeated on Saturday in Roanne on the fourth matchday of the league (85-78).
Victory against Strasbourg and victory against Boulazac (86-75). Two successful outings in a row for our Parisians, who travelled to Roanne this weekend. Also on a 2-2 record, the home side were seen as direct rivals in the race for the Top 7. This closely-fought contest on paper proved to be just that in reality.
Neither side gave an inch at the start of the match. Paris and Roanne traded baskets blow for blow. The home side relied heavily on Anthony Bria, who scored 31 points in the match. Our Parisians, for their part, drew on their rebounding strength as well as the double-doubles from Samuel Bringer and Melvin Mbamen. Although the first quarter was narrowly lost (20–16), our rising stars from Panama led for almost the entire duration of the following quarter. The third quarter, however, proved our undoing. Trailing by too wide a margin on the scoreboard, our team were unable to close the gap (85-78).
There’s no time to rest for Paris. This Tuesday at 4 pm, our young Parisians travel to face Cholet – who remain unbeaten – for Matchday 10 of the ÉLITE Hope League.
