Valencia find a way through in the capital
In front of a packed adidas arena for our American football match, Paris Basketball lost to TJ Shorts’ Valencia this Friday evening (93–104).
It only takes a few plays to set an explosive tone for the encounter. Europe is all too familiar with the offensive firepower of these French and Spanish heavyweights. Intensity, pressure, pace, shooting—a true masterclass in up-tempo basketball is on display for the crowd at the adidas arena. Forget about a “feeling-out” period! Both Paris and Valencia come out swinging, each in their own way. Aside from a corner shot by Tyson, the Parisians score the bulk of their points in the paint—featuring surgical mid-range jumpers from Jared, clever moves under the rim by Momo, and, of course, All-Star Game-worthy dunks from Allan. Their opponents employ a more direct style, firing off a barrage of shots from beyond the arc before gradually shifting their focus closer to the basket. Defensively, both teams apply full-court pressure; hyperactive hands on the perimeter and physical, body-checking defense inside define a spectacular first quarter. In these opening 10 minutes, our own legend, TJ Shorts, is already filling up the stat sheet. Trailing by a narrow margin (26-32), Paris Basketball returns to the floor intent on pushing the tempo in transition. While the Spanish champions execute better in the second quarter, Paris finds various ways to respond. Jeremy kicks off a three-point barrage, and Joël uses his elite passing vision to set up the ever-reliable Allan. Throughout this stretch, the gap between the two teams rarely exceeds a single possession. During a lull in the action, Valencia leans on their key man—TJ Shorts. Facing the brilliance of the two-time French League MVP, our players continue to attack the paint. As this extraordinary first half nears its end, Alize takes matters into his own hands. Drives, mid-range jumpers, and even an “and-one”! Our power forward is putting on a show for a packed Adidas Arena—so much so that, as the teams head to the locker rooms, we trail the Taronges by just a single possession.

Hard hats on—Momo is wreaking havoc in the Spanish camp! Dominant in his element, the Senegalese international asserts his presence under the basket. Following yet another long-range bucket from Tyson, our Parisians reclaim the lead (63-62). When it isn’t T.J. Shorts doing the damage, Armoni Brooks catches fire—much to our detriment! Unfortunately, the remainder of the third quarter slips away from us. While we’ve cut down on turnovers and forced shots, Valencia displays lethal efficiency with the ball in their hands. Nearly every possession results in points, creating a significant gap on the scoreboard by the end of the quarter (70-83). Paris keeps fighting and scoring, yet the deficit remains. Having reached the EuroLeague Final Four in 2026, the Taronges demonstrate unwavering composure. The two teams trade baskets blow for blow right up until the final whistle. Despite some promising openings created by Joël and Daulton, Paris Basketball ultimately falls short (93-104).
After battling neck-and-neck for an entire half, our Parisians were unable to overcome a rough patch in the third quarter. Urged on by a raucous, electric crowd at the adidas arena, Paris attempted one last comeback. But while they managed to win the fourth and final quarter, it simply wasn’t enough to secure a victory today.
That’s it for the matches at the adidas arena this October… but don’t panic! We look forward to seeing loads of you on Sunday 1 November for the Halloween Game. Book your tickets via this link before it’s too late.
