HOMMES: “The Fans Showed Me a Lot of Love”
After playing his first official game in our colors during the derby against Nanterre (92-78), our forward reflected on his debut and the team’s mindset. Welcome back, DC!
You just played your first minutes as a Parisian player. How did you feel?
I feel great! I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. More than anything, I’m really happy to finally be on the court with my teammates.
Even though you were away from the court for quite some time, you immediately seemed very close to the other players. How did you manage to integrate into this group?
This team really welcomed me with open arms, and I’m super grateful to the staff for keeping me involved despite everything that happened. It’s very easy to play with these guys because we share the ball a lot and play at a fast pace. We have a clear playing identity, so I know how I can contribute. It’s a real joy to be back on the court.
Speaking of which, how did you feel during your first derby?
I was talking with Nadir, and I told him that it’s exactly like riding a bike—you never forget. It feels great to be back on the court, and the more games I play, the more confident I’ll become, and the better my teammates and I will understand how to play together. I’m really excited to have played these first minutes, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to grow as a team.
A word for the Parisian fans who supported you during your rehab and cheered you on even at an away game tonight?
I’m really grateful. They showed me a lot of love and support, so I truly appreciate the fans, and I’m happy to be back!
