STRONG’HER

Rebuilding one’s life through sport.

The programme

Strong’Her is a programme designed for women who have experienced violence, to help them rebuild their lives through sport. Developed in partnership with the Maison des Femmes de Saint-Denis – and its emergency shelter, Mon Palier – Strong’Her is based on a simple belief: sport is a powerful tool for rebuilding one’s life. It enables participants to regain a sense of ownership over their bodies, rebuild their self-confidence, re-establish social connections and return to a structured routine, complementing the medical, social and legal support already provided elsewhere.

The programme is structured around several complementary components: regular basketball sessions and adapted physical activities, supervised by specialist sports coaches; wellbeing workshops (yoga, stretching) to gently reconnect with one’s body; nutrition workshops; sessions dedicated to mental health; and social activities to share moments together.

The beneficiaries

Strong’Her is designed as a high-quality, personalised support programme for a small group of women, who are supported throughout the year.

Our commitment

Through Strong’Her, the Paris Basketball Foundation reaffirms its belief that sport can be a powerful tool for recovery for women who have endured some of the most difficult trials. Our aim is to ensure the programme’s long-term sustainability, making it a benchmark initiative for recovery through sport, and enabling every woman we support to gradually regain her self-confidence and return to an independent life.
