When society divides, Paris Basketball brings people together
This Friday, 23 October, to mark our EuroLeague match against Valencia, Paris Basketball is inviting shopkeepers, students, firefighters and street cleaners – all of whom have been affected in various ways by the current tensions – to the adidas arena.
At a time when everything seems to be driving people apart, Paris Basketball rejects simplistic solutions and chooses nuance, solidarity and a sense of community.
To show its support for those experiencing the consequences of the current crisis, the club has invited the following to its stands :
– Shopkeepers affected by the damage caused during the protests, accompanied by their families.
– Sixth-formers and university students facing financial hardship.
– Firefighters deployed during the protests.
– Street cleaners responsible for clearing the streets of Paris after the gatherings.
Since its inception, Paris Basketball has placed diversity, fraternity and openness to others at the heart of its identity.
This invitation is part of that approach: to offer support, forge connections and remind people that sport can bring people together across differences.
David Kahn, President of Paris Basketball : “ We do not all experience the same realities. We do not all hold the same opinions. But we can share the same emotions. In a society where there is much talk of what divides us, we want to highlight the strength of what unites us. This is also what a club like Paris Basketball should be for. ”
