Top 10 best Euroleague transfers
This summer, the EuroLeague has delivered a particularly exciting transfer market. Between the signings of MVP-caliber stars and the arrival of players straight from the NBA, Europe has emerged stronger from this offseason.
The time has come to rank the best signings based on the following criteria, listed in order of importance: intrinsic level, potential achievements, and FIBA basketball experience.
A former Parisian player could well find himself high up in this ranking…
10) Jabari Parker (Partizan Belgrade) : We open this ranking with one of the biggest “what ifs” in the NBA in the form of Jabari Parker. Such a name in 10th place is testament to the level of this ranking. Having arrived at Partizan Belgrade from FC Barcelona, the power forward is coming off two very solid seasons in Spain. But his greatest achievements date back to the start of his career in the NBA. Capable of averaging more than 14 points per game, the Chicago native has seen his career hampered by injuries. This fragility precipitated his arrival in the EuroLeague. When he is fit, he is among the continent’s top scorers. To claim this status, however, he needs to be consistent. This Achilles heel is too significant for him to claim a better position, especially since his defensive porosity does not meet Partizan’s main need.
9) Spencer Dinwiddie (Bayern Munich) : Signed by Bayern Munich at the last minute, Spencer Dinwiddie arrives just in time to make our Top 10. Known by basketball fans for his offensive talent, the combo guard has played in 654 NBA games over 11 long seasons. The Californian has played for Detroit, Brooklyn, Dallas, and most recently the Los Angeles Lakers. Whether in a starting role or as the sixth man, he scores everywhere thanks to his devastating sense of tempo. Spencer Dinwiddie is truly THE player Bayern Munich needed. The only question mark is how he will adapt to FIBA rules, especially since his game relies heavily on drawing fouls.
8) Jordan Lloyd (Anadolu Efes) : After an MVP-caliber EuroBasket performance, Jordan Lloyd decided to leave Monaco to join Anadolu Efes. He is a major signing for Shane Larkin’s team in every respect. The talent of the MVP of the 2023 Betclic ÉLITE finals is well established. He proved it again this summer at EuroBasket, averaging 22.4 points for Poland. The combo guard is also a great leader both on and off the court. His flexible style, alternating between creation and catch-and-shoot, allows him to adapt to almost any opponent. Add to that his FIBA basketball experience, with six EuroLeague seasons under his belt, and Jordan Lloyd fits perfectly into the Turkish club’s ambitious transfer market strategy… without necessarily being THE franchise player or THE star recruit.
7) Nikola Mirotic (Monaco) : A two-time Rising Star and EuroLeague MVP has joined last season’s finalists. That sentence says it all. With Nikola Mirotic, Monaco adds one of the biggest European talents of the last decade to its already star-studded roster. In the Big League, the power forward managed to string together seasons with an average of more than 10 points. And in FIBA’s premier competition, the Montenegrin giant has five campaigns with an average of at least 14 points. Back in Europe for seven years now, he continues to excel offensively thanks to his above-average technical skills. With Mirotic, teams win games… but not necessarily competitions! His leadership leaves something to be desired. His partnership with Mike James should be explosive, for better or for worse.
6) Dzana Musa (Dubai Basketball) : The Bosnian will forever remain Dubai Basketball’s first franchise player. The cornerstone of this ambitious new project, Dzana Musa chose the United Arab Emirates over an extension with Real Madrid. A new leadership role that matches his talent. After two seasons in the NBA, it was in Europe that the forward truly shone. Far from being ridiculous defensively, the former Nets player excels with the ball in his hands thanks to his fluid handling, creativity, ease from mid-range, and excellent vision. With two EuroLeague titles already under his belt, the MVP of the 2024 Liga finals now wears the leader’s jersey. This is an intriguing new challenge full of uncertainty for Dzana Musa.
5) Talen Horton-Tucker (Fenerbahçe) : The only member of our Top 5 who has never played in Europe, Talen Horton-Tucker is the reigning European champion’s main addition. From the end of the bench in Chicago, the swingman is tipped to be the replacement for Nigel Hayes – MVP of the 2025 Finals. Although he does not have a similar profile, the American has the tools necessary to cause big problems for the 19 other EuroLeague teams. His physique and power give him a rare ability for a guard to absorb significant contact on drives. While his shooting remains inconsistent, his wingspan and ball-handling make him formidable on drives. His defense will also add depth and dynamism to Fenerbahçe’s outside rotation.
4) Théo Maledon (Real Madrid Baloncesto) : Real Madrid Baloncesto finally has its starting point guard! And what’s more, he’s French. Returning to Europe after a mixed spell in the NBA, Théo Maledon has completely relaunched his career at ASVEL. Among the top 10 scorers in the EuroLeague last year, the point guard was the leader of a rather lackluster team. From bottom of the table, the Normandy native will now play a leading role on the Old Continent. This combination of management and creativity is literally what the Casa Blanca was missing. Already in the running for MVP in 2025, Théo Maledon will now have the collective record to add to his talent. However, his disappointing EuroBasket performance raises some doubts about his ability to guide his team to the ultimate title.
3) Carson Edwards (Virtus Bologna) 🥉: His signing with Virtus Bologna surprised everyone. Expected to join Paris Basketball or Monaco, Carson Edwards ultimately set his sights on Italy. The top scorer in the 2025 regular season with Bayern Munich, the combo guard is joining an ambitious young project. From anywhere, anytime, against anyone: the American scores again and again. Ranked among the continent’s best forwards, he can single-handedly change the course of a game. However, he remains inexperienced at the highest level, and his shortcomings in playmaking still hurt his teams.
2) T.J. Shorts (Panathinaikos) 🥈: In his rookie season, T.J. Shorts made it onto the EuroLeague MVP 2025 podium. If Paris Basketball has defied all odds in its last two seasons, it is largely thanks to this 5’9“ point guard. ”Too small” for the NBA, the Californian has turned his size into a formidable weapon. With his elite vision of the game, his quickness, his sense of timing, and his clutch ability, he is very difficult to contain. T.J. Short has led his teams to victory, both through his passing and his incredible individual brilliance. In terms of current form, he is undoubtedly at the top of this ranking. But the feat is unsettling. At Panathinaikos, T.J. will have to contend with Kendrick Nunn, the 2025 EuroLeague MVP. The game will not revolve around him, which will greatly reduce his impact. This transfer gives the impression that the Greeks recruited him to strengthen their rotation… and above all to avoid having to face him.
1) Vasilije Micić (Hapoel Tel Aviv) 🥇: He’s back! Two-time EuroLeague winner with Anadolu Efes, Vasilije Micić returns to Europe two years after leaving. After a mixed spell in the NBA, the 2021 double MVP (regular season and finals) is now THE key player for Hapoël Tel Aviv. This walking brain has the most complete skill set in this ranking. Standing at 6’5″, the point guard can do everything with the ball in his hands: shoot, drive, create, pass, penetrate with force… And defensively, his physique and reading of the game allow him to disrupt opposing guards. Admittedly, there are some uncertainties surrounding his comeback. However, his few flashes of brilliance in the big league have proven that his talent is still very much intact. And the last time a team allowed him to impose his unusual rhythm, it resulted in a back-to-back championship.
