Final chapter in the EuroLeague
Our European adventure comes to an end… On the 38th day of the EuroLeague, Paris Basketball fell 79-85 to Zalgiris Kaunas, led by our three former players.
Our Parisians replicated their opening game against SIG Strasbourg. While Zalgiris slowly began to bombard the team from beyond the arc, Justin once again scored the first 6 points of the game for Paris. Well-timed steals also allowed us to withstand Kaunas, who were on a playoff mission. The Lithuanians, however, held onto the lead until our Prince of Paris’ signature step-back. With Lamar responding from way downtown, our players took control of the game for the first time. A slight lead that Derek allowed us to maintain with a final drive at the end of the first quarter (28-26). Paris Basketball, however, managed to hold off the home team’s comeback attempt. But spurred on by Moses Wright’s double-double in under 15 minutes, they created the first real lead of the game. Just before halftime, a well-timed cut by Jared combined with a huge shot by Justin allowed us to limit the damage (45-53).

The shoulder came out to close the gap. Between defensive intensity and impactful drives, our Parisians held their own against the Lithuanians, who were still as efficient on offense as ever (61-68). Entering the 4th quarter, Julius Thomas’s team looked to answer Zalgiris’s numerous floaters. With a series of net play, Paris Basketball gradually closed the gap. A fantastic layup finished by Momo, followed by yet another long-range shot from Justin, countered the antics of our former point guard, Sylvain Francisco. Less than one possession separated us from Kaunas (73-75)! The moment chosen by our three former Parisians – Francisco, Lô, and Sleva – sealed the match (79-85).
The promise shown in this defeat bodes well for the upcoming season. Paris Basketball now has its sights set on the Betclic ÉLITE.
The season finale will take place at the adidas Arena on Saturday, April 2nd against Chalon. Reserve your seat by clicking on this link.
