A successful debut against JDA

GUT GEMACHT ! In Julius Thomas’s first game on our bench, Paris Basketball secured a 76-92 victory this Friday evening in Dijon during the 24th round of the championship.

This new chapter began with a magnificent passing play finished by Derek. A play emblematic of the collective game displayed by Paris Basketball. We expected a contest filled with long-range shots, given the usual volume produced by both teams, and we certainly got that in the first quarter. Attempts rained down, but each defense quickly adapted, forcing the offenses to move closer to the basket. Whether in the paint through Kregor Hermet for Dijon or at the free-throw line for Paris, the points piled up without either team managing to create a significant gap (21-22). Entering the second quarter, the game immediately shifted into high gear ! Justin, Captain’Seba, and Nadir sink three-pointers in under two minutes. JDA, playing at a similarly frenetic pace, keeps pace thanks to lightning-fast attacks, though it’s not enough to prevent our team from taking control of the game. Especially since, even on the floor, the Prince of Paris manages to deliver assist after assist! A flurry of fouls and deliberate footwork slows down the end of the second quarter, during which our players extend their lead (46-38).

Barely back on the court, Derek punishes JDA twice from beyond the arc. The tone is set ! Alley-oops, drives, dunks… no matter how, our Parisians are racking up the baskets. Everything is more complicated for the home team. Even free throws are struggling to fall. Especially since Enzo goes into unstoppable mode for a brief moment, racking up offensive rebounds, and-ones, blocks, and no-look passes ! The gap between Paris and Dijon has widened from 10 to over 20 points (66-43). Little by little, JDA Dijon begins to wake up. They respond, but it’s far too weak to slow down the momentum of Jared and Léo. Paris Basketball clearly pulls ahead before the 4th quarter (72-58). Beyond improving their shooting accuracy, veteran David Holston’s teammates try to suffocate us with a full-court press. However, even when Julius Thomas’s men see JDA Dijon closing in, they don’t deviate from their course. Focused on their initial objective of “victory,” a stoic Paris team remains unfazed by the pressure. And just when our opponents think they can get back into the game, Nadir unleashes his signature move! With composure and control, our team secures a well-deserved victory (76-92).

Despite a shaky start to the first quarter, our Parisians weathered the storm before taking the lead and finally pulling away comfortably in the second half. Dominating the second half, Paris also withstood Dijon’s comeback attempts. This performance bodes well for the future !
