Our Parisians hold firm in Saint-Quentin

In front of a large crowd of Parisii fans, Paris Basketball emerged victorious 103-90 from this tough clash on Saint-Quentin soil on Sunday afternoon in Betclic ÉLITE.

This week was all about Nadir Hifi. After scoring 21 points against FC Barcelona on Thursday, the Prince of Paris immediately switched into “showtime” mode. Between distributing caviar passes on demand and ultra-clean finishes in the paint, our Parisians took full advantage of their point guard’s excellent start. But on the other side, the home team was not to be outdone! In their defense, Eddie Ekiyor and Nick Johnson got off to a great start. This made for a particularly balanced first period. During the first quarter, Lamar’s entry settled the situation in our team’s favor (24-25). Then the second quarter became a matter of free throws (23 in total). In the end, it was the SQBB that had the last word in the first 20 minutes (50-48).

Buoyed by their fans, who were out in force in Saint-Quentin, our players reacted quickly in the second half. Thanks to huge three-pointers from Captain Seba and Amath, Paris Basketball took control of the game (63-64). As the game progressed, a mano a mano ensued. However, the defensive intensity stepped up a notch, especially on our side. The result was immediate: the home team was forced to take three-point shots despite strong defense from Paris. On the Paris side, Amath outran everyone, Seba got angry behind the arc, and finally Nadir unleashed his signature step back. A gap was created with 10 minutes to go (71-78). And the fourth quarter continued in the same vein. Saint-Quentin’s accuracy declined again and again, while Lamar, in great form at the end of the game, continued his momentum from long range.

Nick Johnson’s exploits made no difference. Paris won this battle after finding the right weapons in the middle of the third quarter (90-103).
