Paris knocked Real KO !

Real Madrid falls again to Paris Basketball ! In front of a raucous crowd at the adidas arena, our Parisians shut out the Merengues on Tuesday evening (98-92).

The rematch of the last play-ins goes to Paris! Madrid didn’t stand a chance on this 25th day of the EuroLeague. The Parisians were simply masterful in all aspects of the game, despite a slight scare at the end of the match.

The Madrilenians quickly realised that this is Paris! After leading the score for a few minutes, Real Madrid was hit hard by the Parisian Express. From then on, our second unit on the court, Nadir Hifi, scored his 1,000th EuroLeague point and took control of the first quarter. With the help of their big men, who were ready to grab every rebound (six offensive rebounds between three players in the first quarter), our team imposed its rhythm. Everything was moving too fast for the Merengues on both sides of the court, as reflected in their 6 turnovers in just 10 minutes. The festival continued in the second quarter : Jared Rhoden and Momo Faye made some solid blocks, Amath M’Baye scored 12 points in 6 minutes, Justin Robinson delighted the crowd from the parking lot… In short, Paris dominated in the midst of a frenzied adidas arena with every play. Yet Real Madrid tried, varied, changed systems. But our players seemed to see into the future as they anticipated their opponents’ passing lanes perfectly.

After returning from the locker room, Paris Basketball had built up a lead of no less than 3 possessions (50-42). On the other side, the Merengues continued to rely on their saving grace (14/32 from 3-point range) in the face of the storm (59-55). However, the visitors had to fight constantly to get their shots in due to Paris’ relentless aggression. This allowed Paris to maintain a lead throughout the third quarter (75-66), especially when Jared Rhoden and Seba Herrera came up with shots out of nowhere ! Once the fourth quarter began, the tension clearly rose a notch. Defences took over from attacks, much to the delight of our Parisians, who continued to mix interceptions with lightning-fast transitions. La Casa Blanca nevertheless managed to snatch the lead with two minutes to go (89-87). Worse still, they took the lead (89-90)! This was the moment chosen by The Prince of Paris to make a clutch and-one over Eddy Tavares, followed by decisive shots from Jared Rhoden (him again).

Real Madrid, who have been in resplendent form recently, the team of the moment on the continent, were literally shut out by Paris Basketball (98-92). It was a knockout victory! From start to finish, Francesco Tabellini’s team managed to disrupt Madrid’s game plan, much to the delight of our supporters.
