Imperial Paris faces Le Mans

PARIS TAKES ITS REVENGE ! After a hard-fought battle, Paris Basketball defeated Le Mans on Sunday at the adidas arena (110-92).

The capital city hosted THE clash of the 16th round of Betclic ÉLITE! It was a highly competitive match, initially dominated by Paris before Le Mans stepped up a gear in the second half.

Once Le Mans’ initial waves had passed, our Parisians went on a huge run after the timeout. Trailing, Jeremy Morgan‘s teammates, who were ON FIRE from the parking lot (4/4 in the 1st quarter), scored 18-0. Despite the opponents’ interceptions, Paris Basketball dominated so much in the paint (19 rebounds to 9) that second chances multiplied in attack. However, MSB stopped insisting on shooting from the parking lot and diversified its offensive play. Paris struggled to contain this change of approach at first. The visitors even took the lead (32-36)! But our players ended the half as they had finished it: with a big 3-point streak (4/7 in the 2nd quarter). Added to Nadir Hifi‘s brilliance, Paris Basketball regained the lead while creating a small cushion (48-43).

No sooner had Le Mans returned to the court than they attempted to respond with sharp penetrations. The problem was that the Prince of Paris decided to switch into unstoppable mode for a few minutes ! Behind-the-back passes, jump shots, drives… He gave them the TOTAL treatment! However, the visitors regained their composure on the rebound when the Hudgins-Williams duo began to score from distance. Still as clinical as ever up front, Paris took advantage of their opponents’ lack of discipline to maintain their lead (78-73). Possession after possession, the defences tightened up in the fourth quarter. Or rather, the Parisian defence did, as they continued to block Le Mans’ lay-up attempts, while MSB were unable to slow down the Parisian pace.

Francesco Tabellini’s men quickly built up a ten-point lead (86-76). Despite their efforts, the visitors were unable to close out the game (110-92). The end of the game reflected the overall pattern of play. Le Mans constantly sought to catch up with Paris but never managed to do so.

Starting Thursday, our French champions will be back in front of their home crowd against Dubai at the adidas arena in the EuroLeague. Don’t miss out on the last remaining tickets by clicking on this link.
