End of the blue adventure for Hifi
It’s curtains for Nadir Hifi. Beaten in the round of 16 on Sunday by Georgia, Les Bleus will not be going any further in Euro 2025. Our full-back did not take part in the match.
In a Euro tournament where the underdogs have been impressive, our French team was unable to escape the Georgian trap. Having finished top of their group, France went into Sunday’s round of 16 match as heavy favourites. However, a historic Georgia side took our Frenchies into extra time before pulling away in the final minutes.
While disappointment is inevitable for Frédéric Fauthoux’s 12 players, Nadir Hifi can return to the capital with a sense of accomplishment. Selected at the last minute, our point guard managed to pull off a great performance. He scored 10 points in 9 minutes against Belgium and 11 points in as many minutes against Iceland.
This European interlude will go down in the club’s history books as the first Paris Basketball player to compete internationally in the French national team jersey.
Now it’s off to Cyprus, more specifically to the ‘Neofytos Chandriotis’ tournament, where the Prince of Paris will set the court alight. And not against just anyone! We’re talking about EuroLeague Final Four-level opponents, with Red Star Belgrade on 12 September, followed by Olympiacos on 14 September.
With his brand new status, our number 2 looks stronger than ever. Follow his exploits throughout the season by clicking here !
