Paris Takes the Lead Against Dijon
In a playoff opener with a taste of revenge, our Parisians did what was needed against JDA Dijon (100–87). An important victory for morale before heading to Burgundy this Thursday for Game 2.
From start to finish, our Parisians controlled the game, with TJ Shorts and his teammates snatching Game 1 with sheer determination in a roaring adidas arena. In the first half, our players started strong. Fueled by a series of three-pointers from Mickael Jantunen (16 points) and Nadir Hifi (15 points), Paris Basketball went on a tear. By the end of the first quarter, the gap was already significant (10’, 33–19). A lead that would only grow over time. Extremely focused and driven by a sense of revenge, Tiago Splitter’s men stepped on the gas. Early in the second quarter, Tyson threw down a monstrous dunk that sent the arena into a frenzy — much to the delight of Arthur Fils and Thomas Ngijol. This adrenaline rush lasted over five minutes, during which our Parisians extended their lead. At halftime, the team was comfortably ahead (HT, 65–39).
After the break, Paris controlled the pace and continued to smother the Dijon side. TJ Shorts, living up to his title of league’s top playmaker, put on his “MVP” cape and dished out assist after assist to his teammates — completely overwhelming the Burgundians. Midway through the third quarter, our Parisians were up by 30 points. A gap that held steady through the end of Game 1! Paris secured the win and now holds a first opportunity to clinch a spot in the semifinals this Thursday in Dijon (9 p.m.).
