A bitter defeat against Stade Français

After a closely contested match for much of this 7th round of the NF1, the Paris Basketball women’s team lost on Saturday evening in the Paris derby against Stade Français (74 – 81).

Shorn of several key players, including Salimata Koita and Marie Legrand, our Parisian side were hoping to get back on track at the Halle Carpentier against a familiar opponent. Another club from the capital, Stade Français, were just above us in the league table.

This match, which looked extremely evenly matched on paper, played out exactly as expected from the outset. Neither team managed to create even the slightest gap on the scoreboard. On both sides, the defences were on high alert, ready to thwart every attempt by the opposition to score. As a result, at half-time the score was nothing more and nothing less than 33–33. After the break, however, the tide turned. Luck seemed to favour Stade Français, who took the lead and held on to it throughout the fourth quarter (74 – 81).

Although they have slipped to 8th place in the table, our women’s team are just two points off the podium. Paris will be looking to get back to winning ways this Saturday at 8 pm away at Le Havre.

Let’s all get behind our Parisian ladies !
