Frank Ntilikina : “ It’s going to be a great year ”

Just before he arrived at the Grand Paris Basketball Summer Tour final last Saturday, Frank Ntilikina shared his very first impressions of life as a Parisian with us.

With just a few hours to go before he pulls on the Paris Basketball jersey for the very first time, Frank told us just how eager he is to begin his adventure in the capital : “ I’m really, really excited! The last two weeks have been particularly intense in terms of individual training. It was starting to drag on. Now, I’m really looking forward to meeting my team-mates, working with the coaching staff and, of course, getting the matches underway. ”

The Olympic silver medallist goes on to discuss his decision to join Paris Basketball this summer : “ First of all, the project is particularly appealing. For several years now, we’ve been able to see how well the project is progressing. Joining it, especially after winning titles (the EuroLeague and the Greek league) abroad, is something that’s very close to my heart. French basketball has also come a long way over the years. And precisely because we’ve tasted success, we realise that winning on home soil must be incredible. (…) So building something like that in France is exciting, and I think it’s a brilliant challenge.

The last time the point guard played in Paris was in the final of the 2024 Olympic Games against Team USA. A return to the capital that holds great significance for our French international : “ It’s huge, and I hope we’ll be able to achieve great things. The atmosphere at the Paris Olympics was incredible. Ever since I was a child, I’ve dreamed of playing for the French national team and representing the country on the world stage. And now, having the opportunity to do so with the Paris club is a huge challenge.

Having recently won the EuroLeague with Olympiacos, Frank is far from resting on his laurels : “ The ambition is to build something. We’ve got a fairly young squad, though with some experienced players. I think this is going to be a better season than the last one. Winning the French league and making the play-offs should be our objectives.

And to finish up, Frank wanted to send a message to the entire Paris Basketball fanbase : “ Let’s go ! It’s going to be a great year! Honestly, when I’ve come to play at the adidas Arena over the last two years, I’ve seen all the excitement the fans bring to the game (…) It’s definitely quite a special atmosphere. I don’t think we’re in any way inferior to other European venues. You can see that something is taking shape here, and the team will give it our all to give the fans exactly what they deserve.
