Paris clinique at SIG
After an incredibly tense finish, Paris Basketball delivered a stunning performance against the league’s best home team in this 26th round of games (92-86).
Justin is definitely on fire lately! EuroLeague MVP of the week, our point guard showcased his full range of offensive skills at the Rehnus: mid-range, drives, and the classic three-pointer. He single-handedly scored our first 7 points of the game. On the other side, Marcus Keene also started strong, but SIG was under pressure from our Parisians. This manifested in a string of turnovers, specifically 6 in less than 6 minutes. The conditions were perfect for Paris to take control, especially since Nadir showed no mercy against his hometown team. Overall, everything was happening too fast for the home team! Already clumsy with the ball in hand, even when Strasbourg scored, our players brought the ball up the court so quickly that they were caught off guard. A hot streak from Mike Davis at the end of the first quarter allowed them to limit the damage (28-26). While the Alsatians were enjoying their second chance, Paris Basketball stopped this rough patch thanks to two huge three-pointers from beyond the arc by Lamar followed by Seba. Defensive stops returned to our side, giving us another small cushion (40-34). But as halftime approached, Nelly Joseph’s teammates embarked on another decisive run in a more defensive quarter (45-50).

The second half was evenly matched. Each team traded blows. At least, that was the case until the Prince of Paris came off the bench. With a huge step-back three-pointer, he injected new energy into the game. Suddenly, SIG drew two technical fouls in quick succession, which Paris converted into points. Having closed the gap to just one possession (56-59), our Parisians couldn’t quite sink that basket that would put them ahead. Derek’s putbacks, Nadir’s heroics, and numerous free throws were all on the cards. But Strasbourg were determined to maintain control and were doing everything they could to do so in the third quarter (66-71). Paris Basketball refused to give up. Our relentless pressure continued, Lamar imposed his power, and of course, Nadir continued to deliver his trademark long-range shooting. Gradually, the visitors’ individual players began to tire. Reflecting Mike Davis’s five individual fouls before the final minutes, a clear opportunity opened for Julius Thomas’s men. An opportunity seized by, once again, Mr. Nadir Hifi. With a shot near the logo, our Parisians finally overtook the Alsatians. Even better, we crossed the 10-point mark with another long-range shot, this time from Jared. The opposing team’s comeback attempt was thwarted by a series of forced errors from Paris, who ultimately prevailed (92-86).
Paris trailed for much of the second half. But a Paris team led by the Prince of Paris made the right decisions at crucial moments to secure a valuable victory.
