Our Parisians have smashed the 100-point mark !

ANDIAMO ! Our new duo, Thomas and Potthast, began their collaboration with Paris Basketball with a controlled victory in Bologna during this rescheduled EuroLeague Round 33 game (103-82).

We had to be on time tonight! No time to overthink, no time to rest. The slightest hesitation, the slightest delay, was punished severely! A true demonstration of total baseball in which both teams applied full-court pressure. Faced with Bologna’s mix of coast-to-coast and relentless picks, Paris Basketball responded in their own style. Our rocket launchers were firing from the parking lot, our arrows were ready to pounce on the slightest defensive lapse, and our virtuoso Nadir Hifi was unstoppable in isolation. The start of the game went in our favor! But at home, Virtus responded. Through a strong sequence, the home team built a small lead, which our Parisians quickly reduced to a mere crumb by the end of the first quarter (19-20). This back-and-forth continued, particularly in the post. When Mouhamet Diouf picked up speed to finish near the basket, Derek dunked over two opponents, and Léo did the essential work under the rim. However, despite this physicality, Paris Basketball didn’t neglect their three-pointers. No, no, no… Daulton, Yak, and company sank almost all of their attempts with disconcerting ease throughout the second quarter (7/11 from three-point range). For Bianconeris, the danger now came from everywhere. A much wider range of options that they converted into an advantage on the scoreboard. Paris even managed to create the largest lead of the game just seconds before halftime (53-47).

Until now completely invisible, Carsen Edwards bursts into life to bring Bologna level. That was all it took for Captain Seba to launch two three-pointers. The EuroLeague 2024-2025 scoring champion continues his momentum while the defenses close down the gaps as time ticks away. And it shows! The energy of the first quarter transforms into mechanical possession. With the ball in hand, our point guards take their time to analyze the situation before unleashing their full potential. While the game is extremely choppy, our players don’t let up. On the contrary, blocks pile up, followed by clinical offensive plays. Well, except when Enzo decides to jump on Carsen Edwards to rip the rim off! At the start of the fourth quarter, Paris Basketball is in an excellent position (76-63). Already disheartened by the unwavering consistency of our Parisians, the home team suffered yet another blow. Momo simply decided to shut down our paint for the visitors with a barrage of blocks. And to make matters worse, Paris didn’t hesitate to punish them in transition. Bologna called timeouts one after another without any response. Julius Thomas’s men took advantage to cross the symbolic 100-point mark (103-82).

Although the score suggests otherwise, the Italians put up a tough fight. This match wasn’t lost by Virtus, but rather won by Paris Basketball. After a close contest for two and a half quarters, the relentless pressure exerted by Justin’s teammates paid off in the final stretch. A historic match indeed, as Julius Thomas becomes the youngest coach to win a EuroLeague game !

Having won in northern Italy, our Parisians now have their sights set on Milan, whom they will host this Thursday evening at the adidas Arena. A new Franco-Italian EuroLeague clash that you can watch by clicking on this link.
