A resounding victory for our Parisians in Baskonia
AND THAT MAKES THREE FOR PARIS ! A collective masterclass from our Parisians this Friday evening in the Basque Country against Baskonia in this 30th round of the EuroLeague (97-81).
Billed to be a high-octane affair, this game started slowly with a period of observation during which each team didn’t hesitate to run the full 24 seconds. This dynamic lasted for five minutes. Already in the lead thanks to three big three-pointers (9-8), our Parisians picked up the pace. In addition to continuing to be accurate from beyond the arc, Paris gained tremendous speed as soon as they got the ball before launching first-time shots or driving to the basket. Baskonia committed fouls, and our players earned a good number of free throws, which they converted into points (10/11 in the first half). When the home team tried their luck from beyond the arc out of necessity, Paris Basketball was in the zone both offensively and defensively. The Basques were indeed only given scraps. Their guards were constantly challenged, their post players struggled near the basket, and very few second-chance opportunities fell into their laps… In short: it was very difficult for the Spanish team. They limited the damage in the first quarter thanks precisely to this disjointed start (20-24). However, the second quarter was a massacre. Simply superior, Francesco Tabellini’s men unleashed a completely absurd run (18-1) to ultimately finish with a… 7-possession lead (37-58)! Without any answers, Paolo Galbiati even found himself calling two timeouts in 1 minute and 30 seconds. Unfortunately for him, he was facing a well-oiled machine.

Continuing what we had seen since the beginning of the evening, Paris showcased its collective synergy in the third quarter. While the home team gave the impression of having rediscovered their exceptional spacing in the opening plays of the second half, they quickly reverted to their old habits. Mistakes and poor decisions, largely the fault of our players. As aggressive and disciplined as ever on defense, Paris Basketball effectively shut down passing lanes, forcing Baskonia to rely on individual brilliance. The Basques managed to stay afloat, but the Parisian onslaught continued to suffocate a completely overwhelmed backcourt. Regardless of the scenario, the result was always the same for the Spanish team. They contested long-range attempts only to fall for the fakes of Nadir and company. Or they defended the paint more aggressively, only to concede huge shots from Daulton, Justin and others. Like Allan‘s 10 rebounds in less than fifteen minutes of play, our team continued to dominate. Paris entered the final stretch of the game with an even more comfortable lead (84-60). While perhaps a little less efficient, our team managed the fourth quarter without faltering. A decisive victory: 97-81.
What stands out most from this match is the collective strength displayed by our team. Transformed into a veritable juggernaut for 40 minutes, Paris Basketball continues to excel on the European stage with a third consecutive triumph in the competition. This statistic is all the more impressive considering that each of these victories has been achieved on the road.
Our Parisians will try to continue their winning streak in the EuroLeague next Tuesday against Tyson Ward’s Olympiacos. Very few tickets are still available ! To get yours, just click here.
