Received 3 out of 3

In a 14th round match with a taste of revenge, Paris Basketball defeated Le Chesnay-Versailles 66-61 on Sunday in front of enthusiastic supporters at the adidas arena.

This match had a special flavor. For their second game of the season at the adidas arena, the Paris Basketball Women’s team was determined to win this Parisian derby against Le Chesnay-Versailles, given the outcome of their last encounter.

That extra bit of spirit was evident from the very first minutes on the court. Spurred on by the cheers of the Parisii, our team raced to a 12-point lead in the first quarter (25-12). Everything was happening too fast for the visitors. Our players gave their opponents no respite and punished them at the slightest interception. The ball circulated well, allowing us to take more open shots. Aminata Dosso took advantage of this to score 12 points in a first period dominated by Paris (42-26).

However, this smooth ride was disrupted by Chesnay-Versailles. In response to the all-out pressure from our Parisian players, Versailles deployed the following strategy: get the ball up the court as best they could and then spread out behind the arc for a 3-point shot. Although turnovers continued to pile up, the visitors’ tremendous success from beyond the arc allowed them to stay in the game at the end of the third quarter (56-41).

Ines Salahy’s solid play on both ends of the court allowed Paris Basketball to maintain a lead for most of the fourth quarter. However, our opponents’ extraordinary accuracy gave them a chance in crunch time. With just seconds left, Le Chesnay-Versailles closed the gap to 3 points (64-61). But Touty Gandega kept her cool, took possession, stepped up to the line and sank her free throws (66-61).

The Paris Basketball women’s team is determined to remain undefeated in 2026 this Saturday at home against Nancy Tromblaine, who are just behind them in the standings.
