Paris loses to Valencia
No feat for Paris Basketball on Valencia’s court. Despite some great moments, our Parisians lost 98-84 in this 23rd round of the EuroLeague.
A big challenge awaited Paris on Tuesday evening against the fourth-placed team in the regular season. And against Valencia’s consistency, our flashes of brilliance were not enough to turn the tide.
Surprisingly, the start of the game between these two teams, usually on fire in terms of scoring, was tight! After a superb three-pointer by Jeremy Morgan with the foul, neither team managed to score for nearly four minutes. The defences took the upper hand over the attacks! Behind on the scoreboard, our Parisians carried their strong finish to the first quarter (27-16) into the second quarter. Following Captain’Seba lead, Paris adjusted their aim from long range (5/9 in the second quarter) while varying their offence with mid-range shots. This positive momentum allowed our team to close the gap to three possessions (50-42).

Unfortunately for Paris Basketball, Valencia showed incredible accuracy after half-time. Faced with this barrage of shots from the parking lot, our Parisians covered themselves with drives, post moves, offensive rebounds and and-ones. But this time, it was turnovers (9 in the third quarter) that weighed heavily on the scoreboard (70-53). Coming out of a very choppy third quarter (15 fouls in total), Paris did not give up and put the home team in the penalty box in less than two minutes! The basketball game then turned into a ping-pong match with each team trading baskets. That is, until Justin Robinson brought our team back to within 8 points at the end of the fourth quarter.
In the end, our players were unable to overcome the deficit despite a superbly aggressive final quarter (98-84). Today, Paris was far from undeserving.
