Calvez: ‘The objective is first place’
Last Sunday, the Paris Basketball women’s team faced Orly at the adidas arena. We took the opportunity to look back on the first half of the season with head coach Loïc Calvez.
Our women’s team kicked off the second half of the Nationale II season with a 61-57 victory. According to Loïc Calvez, this performance lived up to Paris’ ambitions: ‘We had a hard time getting into the game. But now we’ve won, and that’s the most important thing: knowing how to win in order to continue advancing in this championship.’
This result is in line with the start of the championship, as the Parisian coach points out: ‘The first half of the season has been pretty satisfactory. It’s a new group that has been formed in part this year, as there have been a lot of departures compared to last season. But little by little, we’ve managed to create some great things and put in some great performances.’

These victories have been made possible by a style of play that is fully in line with the Paris Basketball philosophy: “We always want to win the ball quickly, play with defensive intensity, run and implement a fairly dynamic style of play. Because for me, it’s already my philosophy to play with a lot of intensity and be able to create very quick shifts. But we also try to ensure that the girls are inspired by the image and identity of Paris Basketball.”
For Loïc Calvez, it is now clear: ‘The goal is to finish in first place and move up to Nationale I.’
Our women’s team will return to their home court on Saturday 31 January at the Halle Carpentier against SIG.
