Paris fought until the very end
In a EuroLeague Round 17 match with a play-in feel, Paris Basketball came close to a major upset at Real Madrid Baloncesto’s Movistar Arena (95-90).
Paris Basketball travelled to Real Madrid Baloncesto on Thursday evening. An arena where only Panathinaikos has managed to win since September (TCC).
The Blancos’ solidity in Madrid was evident during the early possessions. At least until Francesco Tabellini’s team stepped up a gear and went on a big run in the first quarter (12-2). Too quick for the home side’s horizontal play, Paris Basketball racked up the stops (7 turnovers for Real) while punishing them from behind the arc (8/16 on 3-pointers).
Special mention goes to Jared Rhoden, who delivered THE BLOCK of the first half of the season on Tavares, currently the EuroLeague’s best shot blocker.
Ahead at the end of the first half (49-50), our players followed their tried-and-true formula to the letter: pressure – steal – finish! But with a more clinical offence, the Merengues stayed within striking distance before taking the lead at the best moment of the game to ultimately win (95-90).
