Hero of the Game : basketball, more than just a sport

Last Sunday, the Paris Basketball Foundation highlighted the wonderful Hoop For Issa’s Memory initiative during the second Hero of the Game event of the season.

Basketball is more than just a sport… Amidst our team’s victory over JDA Dijon on the fourth day of the championship (97-92), the Paris Basketball Foundation gave Hoop For Issa’s Memory a voice. It was an opportunity for Rym Chaouche and Abdou Touré to present this association to a packed adidas arena.

The story of Hoop For Issa’s Memory began on Saturday, 8 July. On that day, Issa Touré, a promising point guard for JA Vichy, died suddenly after drowning during a summer training camp. Speaking to us, Rym Chaouche recalls how Issa was, above all, a wonderful person who was loved wherever he went.

Hoop For Issa’s Memory now wants to spread the positive and sincere energy that Issa always radiated to as many people as possible through basketball. Since Issa’s death, the association has organised an annual charity tournament in his honour. It is an opportunity for players from the Paris region to come together and share their love of sport.

Like Issa himself, this tournament is competitive, but above all friendly and welcoming. All proceeds are donated to organisations that teach tomorrow’s adults to swim.

All dates for future events can be found on their Instagram : @hoop_for_issa. So come and have fun with your friends in this basketball tournament while promoting the great values of our sport!
