Euro : 6 former Parisian players present

With preparations in Paris having begun on Monday, Europe will soon crown its new champion. Nadir Hifi and Ismaël Bako will be in action this Thursday at 5pm in France vs Belgium, and a number of other former Club players will also be lighting up the court.

Leon Kratzer – Germany

No fewer than two former Paris Basketball players are part of the world champion team. The first is none other than our former centre Leon Kratzer. Arriving in 2023 with Thomas Iisalo from Bonn, Leon quickly established himself as a key player in the locker room. After more than 100 games in our colours, he will be playing for Bayern Munich next season. But before that, he has a Euro to look forward to in the role of backup centre in a team that is one of the favourites to win the final.

Maodo Lô – Germany

Already present at the 2024 Olympics under Gordon Herbert, Maodo Lo will also be one of the experienced players on the German roster. A luxury sixth man at point guard, Maodo perfectly led the second unit throughout the campaign, right up to the national title. It’s a role he knows well with Germany and his teammate Dennis Schröder, MVP of the 2023 World Cup. Paris Basketball will see him again this season in the EuroLeague, playing for Zalgiris Kaunas.

Mikael Jantunen – Finland

At home, Finland wants to be the surprise of this Euro. To do so, alongside star Lauri Markkanen, Lassi Tuovi will be relying on Mikael Jantunen. In the starting five at power forward since his arrival in 2023, Mike has embodied the resilience of Paris Basketball during his two seasons in the capital. His average rating has consistently been around 10, symbolising his importance in the final victory in the EuroCup and Betclic ELITE. Jantunen will now continue his exploits at Fenerbahçe, the reigning European champions.

Amar Gegic – Bosnia and Herzegovina

Now accustomed to international competition with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amar Gegic begins this Euro in his usual role as a Swiss Army knife. From point guard to wing, it was with the ambition of strengthening the backcourt that Gegic arrived in the capital in 2022 from Zagreb. A season in the rotation saw his hot streak speak for itself. Today, he is setting the court alight as the undisputed leader in Zadar.

Kyle Allman – Montenegro

A native of the United States, Kyle Allman will be competing in his first international tournament with Montenegro. A spot in the starting five at the 2 position awaits him, allowing him to express his creativity in the best possible conditions. His offensive talent is evident in his 15-point average during his two seasons with Paris Basketball (2021-2023).

Sylvain Francisco – France

Nadir Hifi isn’t really the only Parisian in this French team. Alongside him in the backcourt will be the evergreen Sylvain Francisco. The face of Paris Basketball, Sylvain has written his name in gold in the early chapters of the club’s history. A point guard who is always on point. A player who single-handedly improves any team he plays for. As captain of Zalgiris Kaunas in the EuroLeague, Paris Basketball will be keeping a close eye on Sylvain Francisco during this Euro.
