TJ Shorts: “I Felt at Home”

After two memorable seasons with Paris Basketball, our MVP TJ Shorts is moving on. He will be playing for Panathinaikos next season. This was the perfect moment for him to look back on these two incredible years spent in the capital.

TJ, it’s official—your journey with Paris Basketball ends today. I imagine it must have been a tough decision?
“Of course. There’s a lot of emotion in this decision. It wasn’t the easiest one to make. Paris Basketball has been my home for the past two years. But I felt it was time for me to leave the club and try something new.”

If you could take just one memory with you from your time at Paris Basketball, what would it be?
“My best memory is, without a doubt, the moment we won the EuroCup. Reaching the EuroLeague was our main goal this season. The emotions were at their peak. That was probably the biggest moment of my time with Paris Basketball.”

How special was this 2024/2025 season for you?
“Starting the EuroLeague as a rookie in a rookie team, winning the French Cup and the championship, and making noise across Europe—it’s something I’ll never forget. I’ll carry it in my heart forever. I remember breaking down in tears after our play-in win. It reminded me of everything I had done, what the team had accomplished, all the doubts, the noise around us, everything that happened… and achieving something so special—that’s definitely a moment I’ll never forget.”

Do you have a final message for the club or the fans?
“I felt at home here. Winning all those MVP awards meant a lot to me. For the club, for the city, for the fans—for accepting me for who I am—I truly felt like part of a big family. I want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped shape me into the TJ Shorts you see today. Now, as I like to say: The Marathon Continues. Sure, it’ll continue without me, but this isn’t goodbye. It’s ‘see you later.’”
