The Championship Will Be Decided on Tuesday
Defeated for the second consecutive time on AS Monaco’s court this Sunday (74-80), Paris Basketball will have the chance to write a new chapter in its history this Tuesday in a decisive Game 5 that promises to be absolutely wild.
Do or Die Game. After a heated and intense battle, Paris Basketball fell for the second straight time against AS Monaco in these finals. Yet again, our Parisians never gave up. From the start, they weathered the early storm before finding their rhythm and quickly catching up to the home team thanks to the Jantunen-Hifi duo… until things started to heat up. The perfect moment to crank up the pressure. And in that game, it was our Parisians who kept their cool best. Fired up, Tyson Ward and Kevarrius Hayes were a force on both ends of the floor, helping Paris close the gap right before halftime — capped off by a big three-pointer from Daulton Hommes. At halftime, Tiago Splitter’s men were in the lead (HT: 43-40).
After the break, the trend continued. In an extremely physical match, our players never backed down and met Monaco’s challenges head-on. Led by a confident Nadir Hifi, Paris Basketball managed to keep the lead heading into the final 10 minutes. Unfortunately, Mathew Strazel had other plans for our Parisians. Despite a strong start to the fourth quarter, punctuated by a massive dunk from Yakuba Ouattara, Monaco regained control thanks to three straight three-pointers from their French point guard. TJ Shorts tried to answer, but our MVP’s shots from long range wouldn’t fall. Daulton Hommes attempted to shift the momentum back in our favor with a clutch three-pointer in crunch time, but it was too late.
A loss that needs to be quickly put behind us, as our players now have a date with history. On Tuesday, June 24 at 8:30 PM, our Parisians will have the opportunity to be crowned French champions at home in what promises to be an explosive Game 5.
