Paris Are French Champions !
After an absolutely thrilling game, Paris Basketball clinched the first French championship title in its history by defeating Monaco (99-93) in a roaring adidas Arena.
WE DID IT!!! To put the exclamation point on an exceptional 2024/2025 season, Paris Basketball secured its first-ever French championship title this Tuesday night, after an intense and decisive Game 5.
In the first half, everything went perfectly for our Parisians. Riding high and driven by a sold-out adidas Arena, our players set the tempo and launched into “avalanche mode.” During the second quarter, Paris held a lead of nearly 17 points over a disoriented Monaco team, overwhelmed once again by an outstanding performance from our MVP, TJ Shorts (27 points, 10 assists). But Monaco are two-time defending champions for a reason. After weathering the storm, they fought their way back into the game thanks to Jordan Lloyd, who was deadly accurate from beyond the arc. At halftime, however, Paris still had the upper hand (HT, 54-50).
Back from the locker room, Paris held firm. The visitors found their rhythm and began to pull away from Tiago Splitter’s men, who struggled to find solutions. As the final 10 minutes approached, the situation looked difficult (30’, 73-81). But “impossible” isn’t in Paris’ vocabulary. Fired up, TJ Shorts and Tyson Ward took matters into their own hands and brought Paris Basketball roaring back into the game within minutes! What followed was a legendary final stretch. For nearly 4 minutes, both teams traded blow for blow… until Nadir Hifi — previously quiet — stepped up and sank two massive three-pointers, giving Paris the lead once again in the final minute! Up by 5 with 16 seconds to play… the Arena knew it : Monaco couldn’t come back.
Thanks to this gutsy victory, Paris Basketball becomes French Champion for the first time in its history, capping off a spectacular 2024/2025 season that will be forever etched in our memories.
This title also belongs to Greater Paris. So, for all the support you’ve given us this season, we have just one thing to say : THANK YOU !
