Herrera: “We can be proud of ourselves”
Following our final EuroLeague game against Fenerbahçe, Sebastian Herrera spoke out, highlighting Paris Basketball’s exceptional journey throughout the season.
Despite the loss, you managed to go toe-to-toe with them throughout the series. Are you disappointed with how it ended, or rather happy to have made the playoffs in your first season?
“You know, right now, this is a tough loss to swallow. We truly believed we could win this series—not just one game. Losing 3–0 really hurts. Game 2 (in Istanbul) was the only one where they clearly dominated. We felt we could have taken Games 1 and 3, which makes it even harder. But the season has been amazing. I don’t think anyone expected us to reach the playoffs or to compete at this level against some of the biggest European teams. So yes, tonight I’m sad that the journey ends here. But I’m proud of the way we fought, the way we played together. Despite the loss, we can be proud of ourselves.”
If you had to keep just one memory from this first EuroLeague season, what would it be?
“Oh, that’s so hard (laughs)… We had so many big games, highs and lows, but I think the play-in game in Madrid is my best memory. That was a huge win for us. Playing against all those veterans, one of the most experienced teams in the league, and managing to win to secure our place in the playoffs and make club history—that was really something.”
A quick word about the fans? The atmosphere was electric again tonight… maybe even one of the best of the season.
“Our fans have always shown up for us. They’ve been there at every game, singing, dancing, shouting to push us toward victory. We gave everything to make them proud, and we’re incredibly grateful to have them by our side. We love them and we hope they’ll keep coming and supporting us. We’ll need them for the challenges ahead.”
