Après match

Up Against the Wall

This Tuesday, Paris Basketball was defeated by ASVEL in Game 3. The Parisians must win the next match to stay alive.

We saw echoes of the first quarter of Game 1, with incredible success from the Parisians, an impressive 7/12 from three-point range, and an intense defensive effort to stifle ASVEL. Nadir Hifi made shots reminiscent of the end of Game 2, and Mehdy was very lively and effective. It seemed the game would be quickly controlled. But basketball is a game of runs.

We also saw a slump combined with a resurgence from ASVEL that put Paris in doubt. However, with a comfortable lead in Q1, Tuomas Iisalo’s men maintained a certain margin at halftime.

A Very Complicated Second Half

In the third quarter, Paris struggled again with their shooting and especially against the zone defense used by ASVEL’s coach. There were many situations where TJ Shorts, who was once again monstrous with 24 points, found himself in one-on-one situations. With less movement around him, combined with an effective Paris Lee from distance and our interior troubles, it was very complicated. The rebounding battle was decisive.

The last quarter reflected the third, with ASVEL dominating in all areas of the game, being very effective through their big men. Even though Mehdy Ngouama, with 17 points, tried to spark a comeback at the end of the game, ASVEL controlled the outcome. A second consecutive defeat for the team that must win to stay alive.

See you Thursday for the DO OR DIE GAME, again at the Astroballe.
