End of a historic streak in EuroCup
On Tuesday, our Parisians lost to Besiktas 63-68. This setback ended a run of 7 consecutive wins. Despite this setback, the Parisians remain in first place in Group A.
No 8th consecutive victory
In a packed Halle Carpentier for the reception of Besiktas, the players from the capital began their match in the best possible way, responding to the physical challenge offered by their Turkish rivals.
Driven by the unstoppable duo of Hifi and Shorts, the team coached by Tuomas Iisalo finished the first quarter with a 20-15 lead.
Caught off-guard by the Parisian game of intensity and movement, the Besiktas players committed no less than 17 fouls in the 1st half alone, allowing the hosts to take the lead at the end of the 2nd quarter (40-31).
After the break, Besiktas caught up and trailed by just one point. It was in a breathtaking final quarter that the game turned. Despite numerous Parisian attempts, the Besiktas players managed to take the lead and finally won in extremis (63-68).
First defeat of the season in the EuroCup, and certainly a cause for regret for the Parisians, who had hoped to remain unbeaten in front of a capacity crowd last night.
Nevertheless, Nadir Hifi’s team-mates remain in the lead after this defeat. What’s next? The reception of Gravelines-Dunkerque this Saturday in Betclic ELITE.
Nous ne sommes plus invaincus en Coupe d’Europe cette saison.
