Paris beats Strasbourg

A high-scoring game at the Adidas arena ! Paris Basketball remained undefeated in league play against Strasbourg this Sunday during the third round of the Betclic ÉLITE (95-83).

After Nadir’s performance on Wednesday, Jared decided to deliver a spectacular start. It was simple: he scored all of our first seven points – from three-point range, the mid-range, and the free-throw line; he did it all. While Paris got off to a flying start, the opposition had an answer. Playing a more rugged style, SIG pounded the paint before gradually spreading the floor with some particularly sharp shooters. Our Parisians were no slouches in that department either, especially when it came to dominating the corner three-point spots. Jared, Léo, TJ – Paris kept hitting the same shot from that zone over and over. Once they hit their stride, there was no stopping the Parisian frenzy from deep. Shooting 5-of-10 from long range in barely ten minutes, Maxime Lefèvre’s squad executed their game plan to perfection. This one-sided second half of the first quarter was immediately reflected on the scoreboard (29–20). And things only got better! Take the same ingredients, add a dash of explosiveness from Maozinha – alongside the ever-exceptional TJ – and you get our second quarter. Physically imposing, our players really made the difference with their ball movement. Defensively, too, constant pressure on the opposing point guards severely blunted the attacking threat of players like Maxence Lemoine and Jaylen Hands. Aside from free throws, Strasbourg struggled to find the basket. And at the slightest defensive lapse, our squad made them pay instantly! The scoring barrage kept building, culminating in a 60-point haul in just one half (61–38).

No changes upon returning from the locker room! Our offensive system remains unchanged: rapid ball movement, precise passing, sharp cuts along the baseline, and, of course, lightning-fast transitions. Even when Paris Basketball doesn’t score on the first attempt, our dominance on the boards creates a wealth of second-chance opportunities. Far from standing idly by, Strasbourg tries its best to adjust. Playing more aggressively on the perimeter, SIG gives our ball-handlers much less freedom, aiming to limit long-range attempts. It works—until Nadir’s teammates immediately adapt. Three-point attempts drop, while scoring near the rim increases. Despite a strong finish to the fourth quarter by the visitors, our Parisians hold a commanding lead heading into the final stretch (81-63). But SIG isn’t done yet, quickly cutting the deficit to four possessions! When the pressure mounts and the challenge intensifies, the adidas Arena can count on Tyson. With a “shot from the parking lot” that comes out of nowhere, “Iceman” completely shifts the momentum. What follows is a pair of huge blocks by Allan, yet another corner three from Léo, and a monster dunk by Momo. In full control, our team secures its third consecutive league victory (95-83).

Paris Basketball never appeared to be in trouble throughout the entire game. Dominant from the opening tip-off to the final whistle, our Parisian squad relied – among other things – on a sensational second quarter to secure the win !
