Our youth team get off to a flying start against SLUC

A triumphant weekend for Paris Basketball ! Just like Nadir Hifi’s teammates, our Under-21s got their league campaign off to the best possible start last Saturday away at Nancy (88–72).

The Paris Basketball Under-21s are back! After falling just short of the Trophée du Futur last year, Julien Mahé’s side are aiming, as they do every season, for a better record. This new chapter, brimming with ambition, kicked off this weekend in Nancy.

No feeling-out period, no settling-in time. Our Parisian rising stars quickly took control of the game and even managed to build an early lead in the first quarter (20–13). It was a short-lived advantage, however, as Nancy fought back almost as soon as the second quarter began. Paris then got back on level terms thanks to a well-timed lay-up from centre Samuel Bringer, levelling the score at the death just before the break (33–33).

Then it was the same story all over again! Our Espoirs pulled off a Warriors-style performance with an XXL third quarter. Spurred on by the 35 points from the Delag–Methalie duo, we built up a lead of several possessions. Going into the fourth quarter, Paris found themselves in a comfortable position (62–52). However, the match was far from over, as SLUC reminded us. With the home side now trailing behind, our young Parisians relied on their accuracy from distance to put an end to the suspense once and for all (88–72).

Paris Basketball’s Under-21s will look to build on this result this Saturday at 5 pm in Le Mans. Having also secured a victory on this opening day, this fixture promises to keep us on the edge of our seats right up until the final whistle.
