See you on Tuesday
The French championship title will be decided at the adidas arena! Our Parisian team let their first match point slip away in Monaco during a one-sided Game 4 of the Betclic ÉLITE Finals (84-96).Â
The tension is palpable at Gaston-Médecin! Even though the game has just begun, the defensive pressure being applied makes it feel like we’re already in the thick of crunch time. There are few long-range attempts, but plenty of drives to the basket and mid-range shots. In keeping with this trend, the Monegasques take the lead right from the start. Unlike in the previous matchup, the home team is converting their free throws at an extremely high rate. Paris is also getting to the line, but hasn’t really managed to thwart the opponent’s plans in this first quarter (16-27). It’s worth noting that no 3-pointers have been made yet due to the relentless defensive pressure from the backcourt. Lamar kicked off the second quarter on a strong note, which Nadir followed up with an and-one. These successful offensive plays would be our only ones for quite some time. Our Parisian players found open shots but couldn’t convert them into points. Meanwhile, the Roca Team capitalized on a strong run by our former center—Kevarrius Hayes—to pull away! A tough second quarter for Paris Basketball (33–54).

After running out of steam in the second half, our players kicked off the second half with four consecutive three-pointers! Seba, Nadir, Lamar, and then Justin respond to Strazel’s attacks. Their fast breaks and their renewed presence on the boards are really hurting us. Especially since the Principality club doesn’t hesitate to draw fouls early on during our fast breaks in an effort to slow us down. Jared’s teammates capitalize on the free-throw line, though it’s not enough to close the gap (55–80). Flashes of brilliance from Léo and Yak allow us to win the final quarter of the game. However, the outcome is already sealed (84–96).
Our Parisian team never really recovered from that stunning loss in the second quarter. Now, we’re looking ahead!
