Paris will defend their title against Monaco !

WE’RE IN THE FINALS ! The Prince of Paris sends us to the Finals after a nail-biting finish in the heart of La Meilleraie against Cholet in this 4th game of the Betclic ELITE Semi-Finals (94-91).

Cholet clearly hasn’t learned its lesson… No adjustment period was needed for our Parisians, even at La Meilleraie. 48 hours later, our white F1 team continues its charge towards the Finals. Straight ahead, both on the scoreboard and on the court! When Cholet builds offenses from scratch in the half-court, Paris seems to follow. Defensive stops – transition – clinical finishing from long range and close range. A surgical start for our starting five! Very few mistakes compared to the home team’s subdued play. But like on Sunday, Cholet uses a big run punctuated by free throws to try and close the gap during the second half of the first quarter. Full of fire, the game abandons speed in favor of physical intensity. No one doubts that this is a playoff do-or-die game! Despite some less successful attempts, our Parisians hold on for a tie at the end of the first 10 minutes (25-25). Forced to defend high up the court in their own half, our players relied heavily on three-pointers from around the arc to counter the Reds’ aggressive attacks. The first quarter was slow to get going, with the defenses dominating. Then the game picked up speed and became more fluid, especially for us. Fewer long plays, more instinctive ones! This led to a fast-paced end to the half with constant lead changes. Our opponents maintained their momentum, even though their long-range shooting was a significant handicap. This was a problem Paris Basketball couldn’t afford to ignore. The explosive performance of an unstoppable Nadir, once he got going, gave us a narrow lead at halftime (51-50).

It’s a close game, but so far our Parisians are in control. Already fiercely contested, the two teams come back onto the court with a vengeance. Both sides are scoring. Cholet is thriving on the perimeter with mid-range jumpers and layups. For the Parisians, they’re racking up extra passes, culminating in long-range shots. Amidst these sharp offensive plays, an X factor disrupts the flow. Once again, Daulton wins the third quarter for the third time in a row. Defending him is like facing a difficult choice: contest the shot and risk being caught on the fake, or anticipate the drive and leave him ready. Choose your poison! Either way, the outcome is often similar. What’s more, our power forward is benefiting from the pinpoint passes of our Prince of Paris. Meanwhile, the intensity of the contest hasn’t let up one bit. Timeouts and fouls were few and far between, resulting in a third quarter devoid of any real lapses. And from the free-throw line, Momo allowed Paris Basketball to maintain this slim lead before the final sprint of the series (75-74)! A half can be won with or without the ball. A golden rule highlighted by our defense. Aside from an early alley-oop, we kept our rim untouched for over three minutes. An eternity at this stage of the game! And to make matters worse at La Meilleraie, Captain’Seba, DC, and then Nadir found their range from beyond the arc. Once again, however, the home team refused to give up! They held on, loosened up, even rushed things, but only Paris kept pace with the established rhythm. Add to that an offensive rebound once again dominated by Julius Thomas’s team, and CB found themselves on the ropes in their own arena (90-81). On the brink of disaster, Mohamed Diarra supported Gerald Ayayi during a comeback that ended in a perfect tie (90-90).

The final minutes are breathless, tense… Neither team scores a single point for almost a minute. This drought ends with 30 seconds left on the clock when Diarra makes one of two free throws (90-91). Last chance for Paris. Nadir looks at Diarra, throws down a step-back, and sinks a clutch basket !
