Paris is taking the lead !
Unflappable ! On hostile ground, Paris Basketball kept their composure against Cholet’s comeback at the end of Game 3 of the Betclic ÉLITE series this Sunday evening (95-86).
Paris made a strong impact at La Meilleraie ! Justin led the offense! From the free-throw line and then from long range, he got us going in this decisive Game 3. On the other end of the court, Jeremy took on his defensive responsibilities, drawing a charge followed by an interception on Cholet’s first two possessions. This strong period faded, but the lead created provided a sufficiently solid cushion to contain the home team’s good run. Midway through the first quarter, the two teams were neck and neck! After the superb work done by the starting five, our second unit took over brilliantly. Especially since Enzo transformed into a rebounding machine. Mohamed Diarra or not, the Parisian reigned supreme in the paint during his time there. Nadir took full advantage, scoring points here and there. The home team tried again to close the gap… without success (32-23)! Under the basket, Paris dominated to such an extent that Cholet couldn’t find its usual intensity. Especially since Cholet was clumsy with the ball. Foot on the sideline, turnovers… The Parisian first line of defense was disrupting the game, and not just on defense! The scoring continued, across all zones. TJ Campbell’s teammates couldn’t even bother us on the fast break. Fueled by a red-hot Yak, our players created the biggest lead of the series with an 18-point advantage (50-32). Cholet, however, softened the blow a little as they headed to the locker room (54-41).

Our foundations, built on that red hardwood in the first half, remain a jumbled mess! Clearly, the home team is having considerable difficulty getting into their quarters. Once again, they fail to score for more than three minutes. In contrast, Justin and Jeremy start off with a bang from the parking lot, before Daulton joins the party. Still without a three-pointer since tip-off despite ten attempts, our opponents have no other option but to try and drive to the basket. The problem is, inside, you’ll find either Momo or Enzo. Twin towers who dominate this game with their talent. Our number 18 even achieves a double-double and a career-high in rebounds in less than ten minutes. Yes, it’s absolutely unbelievable! Meanwhile, Paris Basketball is playing their game without any real hitches. In fact, the problem for the Vendée team is this: no matter the scoring crunch, our players respond relentlessly. Note the Cholet comeback at the end of the 3rd quarter (76-61), which continued after the timeouts. Paris Basketball didn’t have time to doubt themselves thanks to Justin. Playing alongside the Prince of Paris in the backcourt, our point guard handled both scoring and assists. The Yak also made his mark during this tense period. Although Cholet got back below the two-possession mark, our big men soared through the air twice to definitively seal the game (95-86).
Paris dominated, Paris had a scare, but Paris held on! Thanks to exceptional rebounding and an ironclad defense, our French champions narrowly avoided a Cholet trap that was clearly waiting for them. What resilience!
