Paris thrashes SIG

And that’s one down ! An unstoppable Paris Basketball side in the third quarter clinched Game 1 of the LNB quarter-finals after thrashing SIG on Tuesday evening in front of a raucous home crowd (95–64).

Unsurprisingly, our Parisians launched their playoff campaign from the parking lot! Just like in our last encounter against Strasbourg a month and a half ago, Justin quickly opened the scoring, but SIG responded in the half-court. Their formidable duo of Keene and Davis Jr. used the physical presence of their big men to dominate from mid-range. The long-awaited battle in the paint finally arrived! Our Momo, Enzo, and Lamar were putting in a tremendous shift against Nelly Joseph’s teammates. Trailing for almost the entire first quarter, Paris clung to Nadir’s exploits, particularly his free throws, to stay within striking distance of the red and white. And when the opportune moment arrived, Amath opened the scoring with a three-pointer before Jared tied the game at the buzzer with a combination long-range shot and steal (21-21). In the space of 72 hours, Strasbourg has absolutely not resolved its foul trouble related to Chalon. Without hesitation, our players dive headfirst into this breakdown. Momo ignites this Julius Thomas machine with blocks and dunks. It picks up speed at the start of the second quarter, then mercilessly steamrolls the completely overwhelmed visitors. The momentum shifts! It’s Paris Basketball’s turn to try and intimidate on offense, while the defense intimidates. Seba’s squad finds its rhythm with perfect chemistry, and the whole of France knows how much our team loves these sequences where the players are in motion. Their body language speaks volumes. During breaks, our players have their hands on their hips while the Alsatians are on their knees. It’s difficult for SIG to hide the setbacks they suffered during the play-in tournament. As halftime approaches, the gap stabilizes in our favor (46-39).

At half-time, the weather takes a turn for the worse at the adidas Arena. Dark clouds hang over the court, the stands rumble, lightning is about to strike… and it certainly does! Even more unstoppable, Paris strings together lightning-fast transitions, spurred on by an electric Jared. To prevent any fire from breaking out, Justin and Nadir unleash a barrage of long-range shots. Le Yak takes the opportunity to decapitate the Strasbourg hoop with a dunk worthy of a dunk contest. Finally, Paris Basketball is forced to call 18 as our crowd has literally exploded. Among those contributing to this eruption are Lamar, JMO and, of course, the Prince of Paris, transformed into a serial shooter for a moment. To call it a crushing blow would be an understatement, given how thoroughly SIG were outplayed throughout this third quarter (73-50). Rarely have our Parisians dominated an opponent so completely over a mere 10 minutes. The visitors found some breathing space thanks to Mike Davis. But that didn’t change much in the outcome of this clash. Worse still, the ordeal continues for Léo’s former club! Never satisfied, our Parisians continued to delight our supporters right up to the final whistle (95-64).

After a shaky start to this first leg of our 2026 play-offs, Paris Basketball quickly regained control and cruised to victory. Paris will have the chance to seal the series once and for all this Thursday at 9pm away at Strasbourg.
