Happy birthday amara SY !

A true legend of French basketball, our sporting director, Amara Sy, celebrates his 43rd birthday today. It’s the perfect occasion to give him the tribute he deserves.

It all began for him in the Parisian suburb of Cergy, on the playgrounds. After impressing locally, he decided to hone his skills and take on the professional world with ASVEL. His career took off with a first French championship title in 2002, just after winning the Espoirs title in 2000. From there, the Admiral’s career was fully launched. He then moved from club to club across France before venturing into Greece, Spain, and even the United States.

Alongside this already exceptional career, Amara continued to roam the playgrounds where he had learned so much during the summer. After winning the 1v1 World Championship title in 2004, he kept working hard and went on to win the legendary Quai 54 tournament five times. Then, approaching his 40s, it was time for one final sporting challenge. On July 16, 2019, the Admiral signed with Paris Basketball, then in Pro B, for three seasons. The goal was simple: to elevate the club to the Elite for the first time in its history. After two seasons of sharing his experience, game knowledge, and unstoppable moves, the objective was achieved. Amara Sy and Paris tasted the BETLIC Elite at Carpentier just three years after the club’s inception.

A basketball lover, he couldn’t stay too far from the courts and the orange ball. This is why he joined our staff as sporting director, while also being present for our young talents at the Paris Basketball training center.

A legend of the French championship celebrates his 43rd birthday today, so happy birthday, Amiral!

Even though he won’t be able to play in the EuroLeague under our Parisian colors, his legaSY is well ensured by his younger brother, Bandja. So, to witness this, see you at the Adidas Arena!
